FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: What safety certifications does the HIMA F3 DIO 8/8 01 comply with?
A1: It complies with IEC 61508 SIL 3, EN ISO 13849-1 Cat. 4 PL e, EN 50126/28/29 up to SIL 4, ATEX Zone 2, and UL/CSA/FMc standards.

Q2: Can the pulsed outputs be used to control safety actuators?
A2: No. Pulsed outputs are strictly used for diagnostic purposes such as line monitoring and should not be used for safety-critical control.

Q3: What is the difference between DO+ and DO– outputs?
A3: DO+ uses L- ground while DO– uses S+ ground. DO4+/8+ and DO4–/8– can be used in 2-pole configurations for enhanced diagnostic and isolation features.

Q4: Is the F3 DIO 8/8 01 suitable for Ex zone installations?
A4: Yes, it is certified for installation in Zone 2 hazardous areas per ATEX, when installed in appropriate IP54 or higher enclosures.

Q5: What tools can be used for configuration?
A5: Configuration is done via SILworX (OS v7+) or ELOP II Factory (OS up to v6.x), depending on firmware revision.

Q6: What happens during a fault condition in a digital output?
A6: The affected output channel is switched off, a FAULT LED is activated, and the module enters a safe state.

Q7: What mounting method is used for this module?
A7: It mounts on a standard 35 mm DIN rail and must be installed inside a protected cabinet.

Q8: How are the LED indicators categorized?
A8: LEDs indicate system status (RUN, ERROR), power (24 VDC), communication (Ethernet activity), and individual channel states (ON/OFF for each input/output).
