ABB Motors & Generators China held a media open day to share the latest progress of energy-saving and efficiency-enhancing products and zero-carbon factories.
ABB upgraded four motor and generator products to continue to help customers in various industries achieve leaner and cleaner operations and achieve excellence.
ABB Motors & Generators celebrated the 20th and 30th anniversaries of its two companies in China, further consolidating its long-term commitment to the Chinese market.
On April 8, ABB Motors & Generators held a factory media open day event in Shanghai with the theme of “Double Celebrations, Determining the Original Aspiration, Zero-Carbon Manufacturing Continues”. On the occasion of the 20th and 30th anniversaries of the establishment of ABB Motors & Generators’ two companies in China (ABB High Voltage Motors Co., Ltd. and Shanghai ABB Motors Co., Ltd.), ABB specially invited representatives of the general public and industry media to visit the motor and generator factory and share the latest product developments around motor market trends.
In China, motors consume about 60% of the total electricity consumption, which has great energy-saving potential. As an important supporter of China’s energy transformation, ABB is committed to helping customers save energy and increase efficiency through its innovative solutions.

A variety of new ABB motors and generators inject surging power into the green transformation of industry
This year, ABB has enhanced its local R&D and production capabilities, and has successively launched the AMZ 1400 permanent magnet shaft generator, M2BAF IE5, M2QA-FB IE5 and M2JAX IE5 ultra-high-efficiency motors, setting new industry benchmarks in efficiency, reliability and sustainability.
Focusing on the core needs of the green transformation of China’s shipbuilding industry, ABB upgraded the permanent magnet shaft generator developed, produced and serviced by China this year, leading the shipbuilding industry to a more reliable, efficient and sustainable future. During the event, Wenguang Yang, head of ABB’s Large Motors and Generators business unit in Asia Pacific, said: “Since 2005, ABB’s Large Motors and Generators have built a full value chain system covering R&D, production and services by deepening its local strategy, launching various high-voltage motors and permanent magnet shaft generators suitable for the Chinese market. Innovative products such as these have been implemented on a large scale in the fields of industrial energy efficiency and ship power. ABB is proud to be a partner in China’s green innovation transformation and high-quality development, and insists on using cutting-edge technologies to contribute greater strength.”
“Since entering the Chinese market in 1995, ABB IEC low-voltage motors have always adhered to technological innovation and built a full-chain system covering R&D, production and services, providing an important driving force for China’s industrial efficiency and sustainable development.” Luo Hui, head of ABB’s local business unit for IEC low-voltage motors in China, mentioned, “In 2021, ABB initiated the The “Jiaolong” project led the Chinese local R&D team to independently develop two low-voltage motors, M2QA and M2BAF, which have been widely recognized by the market. This year, ABB responded to my country’s urgent demand for high-efficiency motors and launched the newly upgraded M2QA-FB IE5, M2BAF, and M2JAX motors to the food, water treatment, HVAC and petrochemical industries. The motors are upgraded to the first-level ultra-high efficiency (IE5) level, and use technological innovation to help customers run their businesses smoothly, and stand out in the market with more efficient, more productive and sustainable competitive advantages. ”

Zero-carbon benchmark factory leads a green future
While helping customers achieve green energy transformation and sustainable development, ABB aims to achieve its own net zero emissions by 2030, and achieves its own sustainable development through measures such as adopting renewable energy power generation and replacing old motors with ABB’s high-efficiency motors. Thanks to this, both ABB Motor and Generator factories were selected as “zero-carbon benchmark factories” by the Shanghai Economic and Information Commission, becoming a demonstration case of regional industrial green transformation, which also means that ABB has provided a replicable low-carbon transformation path for other industries with itself as a template.
In the future, ABB Motor and Generator will continue to help customers achieve leaner and cleaner operations, set an example of excellence, promote innovation in efficient motor technology and zero-carbon factory operation methods, and inject core power into China’s industrial green energy transformation.
